To keep up and hopefully adapt to these largely increasing needs for clean and readily available water in the cities, many plans to prevent a more widespread lack of water supply and sanitation in these areas have been made. The issue is, however, that most of these plans have either not been funded, put into action, or completed. In addition to this, the structures that are currently in place are in poor condition or near collapsing. Some of these failed proposals include the construction of dams, to help maintain the water supply, and more advanced filtration systems to ensure that the water is safe for human use and cons umption.
